What we do

We replace and repair asphalt and metal roofs, track down leaks, and handle storm damage and moss removal. We pull permits where a municipality requires one and book inspections as needed. We also handle moss removal and gutter clearing as part of a standard inspection, since both trap moisture against the roof deck if left alone.

How we work

We measure your roof, walk you through material options, and give you a written quote before any work starts. Once you approve it, we schedule the tear-off, install the new roof, and clean up the site before we leave.

What do you get in writing?

We carry $2 million in liability insurance and WorkSafeBC certification on every job. British Columbia issues no provincial trade licence for roofers, so insurance and WorkSafeBC certification are what you should ask to see — and we'll show you both.

You get a written quote before any work starts, a written workmanship warranty on our labour on top of whatever the shingle or panel manufacturer covers, and a walk-through with you once the job is done. The quote names the exact product going on your roof, the slope and underlay it's rated for, and what the tear-off and disposal come to. If a permit applies where you are, that's in the quote too, with the fee shown separately rather than buried in the total.

Working in a coastal climate

Roofs on Vancouver Island's east coast deal with more rain and more wind-driven moisture than roofs in a drier part of the province, and homes closer to the water — along the Saltair shoreline or on an exposed Cedar property — see it more than most. That's why we pay as much attention to eave protection and flashing as we do to the shingles or metal panels themselves. Get those edge details right and the roof holds up to that weather for years longer. We check those details the same way whether it's a brand-new install or an older roof we're inspecting for the first time.

How long a roof lasts

Asphalt shingle roofs typically last 15 to 30 years on the Island, and metal roofs last 40 to 70, so the material you choose has as much to do with how long you plan to stay in the home as with the upfront cost. Both systems are available in a range of colours and profiles, so the choice usually comes down to budget, expected time in the home and the look you want for the roofline. We walk through that trade-off with you before you commit to either system.
